Awarding archers for their practice and dedication
Last year in 2025, TAA awarded 19 patches to encourage new archers to get out and shoot, and to recognize seasoned archers for their precision.
We believe in those who step into the world of Asiatic archery and practice traditional Asiatic archery not only in practice but in competition.
Patches with a purpose
Each patch serves a purpose and helps archers work toward a goal during each competition.
Texas patch - For new archers, your first shoot can often be the most intimidating competition. If you come out and miss the majority of your shots, we have a patch for that. Additionally, the Texas patch is likely the coolest patch in the series. No one has to know why you won it.
On a roll - Consistency is key. This patch is awarded to the archer with the longest streak of same-score (5,8,10,12) shots.
12 patch - Dieter and Kristie were once told, “You can’t be accurate with those bows.” We say otherwise. This patch is for the person who scores the most 12-point shots. This patch is all about precision and bragging rights.
Overall - In August, or at the end of the season, TAA will award an overall winner in each category.
How it works
Entry requirements and eligibility
Open to any 3D tournament that is local to you.
For those shooting a non Austin Archery Club shoot, pay for your entry before the start of each Austin Archery Club monthly shoot. View events calendar
If there are no entries beyond the AAC shoot, then we will award patches that day after The Austin Archery Club monthly shoot.
You must enter and pay before the start of a shoot/tournament. You cannot enter after the start of a shoot/tournament.
Rules
Shoot a 30 target shoot/tournament
Scoring for each target must consist of 4 zones
Zones are defined as target points
Only 1 shoot/tournament per month. You can’t shoot multiple shoots per month.

If you win a patch and you live outside of Austin, Kristie will mail you your patch.
